Moon Called is the first book in Patricia Brigg’s Mercy Thompson urban fantasy series, introducing Mercy, a coyote shapeshifter and mechanic in the Tri-Cities, Washington, who gets entangled with the local werewolf pack after helping a new werewolf, leading to a supernatural conflict that forces her to confront her past and the pack that abandoned her. The novel establishes the world of werewolves, vampires, and fae, and sets up the central relationships and mysteries of the series, focusing on Mercy’s struggle to survive in a world where her unique abilities make her an outsider.
